Recommended Surface Prep 
Remove all dirt, chalk, mildew, rust, loose or peeling paint, grease, oil and other surface contaminates prior to painting. All new galvanized metal or aluminum must be primed before painting. New galvanized metal or aluminum must be free of any mill scale, grease, or fabricating oil.

Remove oil or grease by solvent cleaning or with a detergent solution, followed by thorough rinsing. Remove mildew with a bleach solution followed by thorough rinsing.

Note: Oil-based primers or finish coats should not be applied directly to bare galvanized or aluminum surfaces.
